Position Title: Ministry Assistant Employee Classification: Part Time – Salaried Salary: Commensurate with experience Position Open Date: August 10, 2020 Position Summary: • The Ministry Assistant works in cooperation with the church treasurer and finance committee while providing general administrative functions and activities for the church office. Performs such actions as business operations, human resources administration, accounts payable, accounts receivable, business resources, facilities operations, etc. • Schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00AM – 1:00PM; however, subject to change based on church needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Serves as the primary point of administrative contact and liaison for the Pastor and other committee leaders. • Prepares church communications and publications, creating and distributing bulletins, newsletters, other miscellaneous items. • Administers the day-to-day activities of the office; develops policies, procedures, and systems which ensure productive and efficient office operation. • Provides support to the church, to include handling walk-up and phone interactions, maintaining calendars, screening, analyzing, and responding to incoming correspondence, handling day-to-day problems and situations, and provision of clerical support. • Under direction of the church treasurer and finance committee, serves as custodian for financial records. Prepares financial information for committees and the church as needed or requested • Implements established financial procedures of the church to include and not limited to deposits, banking operations, and charitable contributions records. • Plans, monitors, and performs required expenditures as appropriate within the approved budget; coordinates budgets for the office and associated accounts. • Assists with scheduling meetings, renting church equipment and facilities, etc. • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written. • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. • Ability to analyze and solve problems. • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues. • Knowledge of office management principles and procedures. • Skills in the use of database management, word processing, spreadsheet, and/or presentation software. • Organizing and coordinating skills. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Minimum Qualifications: • Must be a born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ who is growing in faith and discipleship. • Must have a servant’s heart and attitude. Sees this position as a personal ministry to this church family. • Must be coachable, accountable, moldable, humble, and forgiving. • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred. • 2 years’ experience in office management. • Proficient with data entry, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. • Experience in fiscal services, administration, and/or human resources preferred. • Any equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered for the position.
