A typical Sunday at New Salem Baptist Church is friendly, casual, worshipful and spiritual.

Sunday Mornings

If you are an early bird… The Worship Band and Praise team start as early as 7:30 AM so the doors to the sanctuary are open and you are welcome to come inside to listen to the music and visit with other early arrivals. The 8:00 AM worship service begins with a piano prelude at 7:57, and church announcements from Bro. Mel follow that. Then we begin worship with songs. We sing hymns and contemporary music with worship led by the NSBC praise band with piano, guitar, bass and percussion instruments. Our musicians really enjoy leading worship and when the congregation sings along, the sanctuary is truly filled with wonderful songs of worship. Bro. Mel preaches for 30-40 minutes and uses the NKJV version of the Holy Bible, you can listen to a usual Sunday Worship Service online at this link – Sermons.

After the early Worship Service, Sunday School begins at 9:15 AM. We have several adult classes to choose from and classes for children/teens divided by age/school grade. We offer a church nursery during all services for bed babies to three years old. Sunday School is a great time to connect with others in small groups. You may visit several classes until you find one that suits your needs with other people that you can grow in Faith with.

If you didn’t make it for the early 8 AM service, don’t worry, after Sunday School another Worship Service takes place in the Sanctuary at 10:30 AM. The music and message are the same as the 8 AM service, and you are welcome to come to early Worship, participate in Sunday School and stay for late Worship so you can catch anything you missed from the early service. The 10:30 AM service usually finishes up around 11:40, and many members stay later to visit with each other in the sanctuary or parking lot. There is alway plenty of time to make it to lunch after the late service.

Sunday Afternoons/Evenings

Children ages 2-sixth grade may participate in AWANA, which meets in the Fellowship Hall from 4:00-6:00 PM during the months of August-May. Awana is a world-wide nonprofit ministry focused on providing Bible-based evangelism and discipleship solutions for kids. As the global leader in child and youth discipleship, Awana gives children the opportunity to know, love and serve Jesus, no matter their background. Children learn about Christ through memorization of the scripture, fellowshipping together and playing fun games. In June and July, “Summer Blast” starts at 5:00 PM while the children and Awana teachers take a summer break.

Youth Drama (Blind Faith) meets in the Youth Building at 4:00 PM. It is followed by Youth Discipleship at 5:00 PM with a quick “snack” in between. Youth also lead the congregation in worship at 6:00 PM in the sanctuary.

Adults have several Discipleship Training classes to choose from in the Education Building beginning at 5:00 PM. Discipleship Training is often topical and topics covered change regularly. Check the announcements and bulletin for more information.

Sunday Evening Worship begins in the Sanctuary at 6:00 PM. Worship is led by the Youth who fill the choir loft and make up the Praise Team. Bro. Mel also brings a message and we usually finish up around 7:00 PM.
